To promote Inglourious Basterds, Quentin Tarantino hosted a week of films on the British television station Sky Movies. Here is his review of Danny Boyle’s underrated sci-fi thriller Sunshine.

Glad to see someone out there knows and likes this film. I remember having loved when I saw it and have been meaning to rewatch it for some time now.Count me a fan. I bought it on BluRay… absolutely killer visuals and production, great story, great soundtrack. Love it!
While Tarantino himself is positively excruciating to watch and listen to, I do like his work, and respect him as a filmmaker and passionate observer of cinema. So it’s kind of neat that his analysis of Sunshine parallels mine: a flawed masterpiece. The good stuff is soooooo good that you almost want to deny or disown the problematic part. It’s like taking a beautiful woman to bed for a indulgent night of unprecedented pleasures — and then her food poisoning kicks in.

Sunshine was a movie I went into with NO expectations, and it absolutely BLEW ME AWAY. Essential BluRay.
