I’ll reserve judgment on the idea of a real-time view like the new “The Wire” under Popular, but I can say right away that this current version is very hard to look at, with all the images marching down constantly like Space Invaders.

How about a system of image replacement that would let each image stay in one place longer? Rather than shoving the whole collection along, you could simply overwrite one image at a time, oldest first. It would accomplish the same thing while letting the eye actually rest on something interesting for more than half a second.
